Horrifically high attrition rate among the staff - by my calculation around 50% of staff that worked there at some point in 2019 are no longer there, and it is higher if you exclude family and friends of the owner. They hired 8 staff in 2019 by my calculation, 1 family member still there, 1 friend of the owner still there, only one of the other 6 remains. If you are related to the owner Helen or a friend of hers before you join you have a bright future there, if not then reconsider now.
The most toxic workplace atmosphere I have experienced - people are pleasant to your face but will snip about you and others as soon as they are out of the office. The family members seem to be most guilty and undermine new staff members almost from day one.
Their hiring strategy seems to be to hire people to be a "magic bullet" to fix all the ills of the company, then get rid of people as soon as they fail to overcome the structural issues within the company.
There is a lack of customer focus - the sales and pre-sales staff rarely visit customers, or even call them as far as I can tell and new customers are as rare as unicorns. The owner has a particular view of the type of customer she wants, even though the company is ill equipped to deliver what these companies need. For an IT company there are shockingly few technical staff.
The focus within the company is heavily on appearance. The would much rather superficially appear to be professional than actually take the steps to be a fully professional organisation.
