Pros

Boston is a nice town and their offices are in a nice area.

Cons

Scattered leadership and poor direction from the executives. Company is badly managed and actions do not line up with words. I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

Pros

The people you work with are passionate and friendly. Half days on Fridays and being fully remote were great for work life balance.

Cons

It took me a very long time to figure out what exactly this company even does after joining. They paint a picture of changing the world with industry leading technology but the truth is they give that technology no attention or resources. They are instead, essentially a hiring agency who provides Community Health Workers for insurance companies. So essentially a temp agency. What they actually do is far less glorious than the image painted during onboarding. There is little to no budget for anything. I knew a few colleagues who just paid for their own apps or tools because they couldn't get approval for it. (We are talking $10/mo tools sometimes). This lead to a lot of problem solving to get around basically a $0 budget for industry standard tools and services. There is also no time/project management skills, projects that have been scoped out months in advance often turn to fire drills at the last moment to try and get done. This leads to a lot of unpaid after hours work to finish at the last moment. But don't worry the "thnx" you get from the CEO makes it all worth it. Company strategy often involved chasing a new shiny object and seemed to change every quarter. Constantly pivoting and uprooting months of work to accommodate the new strategy was frustrating to say the least. I can not see this company succeeding without their Harvard Grant money. They often joke they're a 10 year old startup which makes you wonder why they haven't gotten off the ground in 10 years.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback after your departure. As always, People Operations appreciates all points of view within the organization. Yes, we believe in the products and programs we create will have a positive impact to personal SDOH, and within communities everywhere! That is why we do what we do! We would like to address your statement about being a temp agency, because that is simply not accurate. We are a full time, direct hire company who offer optional benefits to all full time employees starting day one. It is concerning that you indicated some have purchased their own tools due to lack of approval. Activate Care has a rigorous evaluation process by our security & technology acquisition committee for desired tools/resources. Our first priority is security and then on tools that can solve the broadest ranges of need. Sometimes there is competition with preexisting tools, or within the budget that is available to provide for resources for the company. With smaller things mentioned above, we want to remind our staff that we do offer up to $500.00 per calendar year for professional development should they wish to apply this organizational perk! Our company strategies are continuously strengthened and tailored to fit the evolving product. We know good things take time, and we are committed to seeing this through! Thank you for all that you contributed during your time here. We wish you the absolute best in future endeavors!

Pros

Company started with a great social mission to bridge the health equity gap for all. Mostly hires passionate individuals to work in the company. Their hiring process is straightforward. They look for people with passion to advance SHOH awareness and find solution to address the health equity cause. Offers fully remote position across many states.

Cons

While they have employee friendly benefits, and overall claim to care about every individual, company leadership is littered with unqualified friends and family members. As a SaaS platform vendor, their entire leadership team is filled with folks with little to no tech startup experiences, including CEOs. It is what some employees call Boston Boys club. New CIO is taking advantage of this lack of leadership experience and is making major company decision based on his department's benefit.

Dear Former Employee, Thank you for all of your contributions over the last 3-4 years with us at Activate Care! We have grown through so much together. We really do look for the passion and drive to help reduce health inequities everywhere, it really grounds each of us to our collective, WHY, every day! Our leadership team continues to take our employee feedback seriously, and have been making great strides to continue to tailor our product strategy to the correct market! We did want to address the inaccuracy of the review, we do not currently have a CIO in place, and are currently not anticipating adding this specific position for quite some time. The leadership team has a collective strong healthcare background, and core skills relative to each of their contributing roles. We are confident that we can achieve our projected, and scaleable growth in the near future!
