Pros

I cannot think of anything... it's really that bad.

Cons

This company is unethical, racist, intolerable, and sickening. While working at ActiveCo, I was harassed, verbally abused, screamed at, and even sworn at by the owners. I also observed this behaviour towards others, helplessly. ActiveCo’s work environment is toxic, employees are micromanaged, reprimanded, threatened, and yelled at on a daily basis and NEVER praised for a job well done. At ActiveCo, it was common to hear employees being screamed and sworn at from across the office. This was a daily phenomenon. Please do not fall for the culture that they boast about on social media - it’s fake. This company is in a vicious downward spiral caused by poor leadership. I observed some of the most racist, unethical, and sickening business practices while at ActiveCo. For example, I was prohibited from interviewing anyone by the name of Mohammad. The rest I can’t even speak of. They do not care about their employees, this is the biggest lie that they preach. I sincerely feel bad for the employees left at ActiveCo as they are incredible people and deserve better. Not to mention the low wages that do not meet industry standards and minimum vacation. If you enjoy work life balance, this does not exist at ActiveCo, they have a come early and stay late philosophy - AND will reprimand you for it WITHOUT paying you overtime. Also, If you want a day off, they will deduct your pay regardless of being a salaried employee. There is many other critical flaws, too many to cover in one review. I am so thankful I left ActiveCo when I did and I hope you think twice about joining this company.

Thank you for writing. It is unfortunate that you left ActiveCo with a negative outlook and reflection, while you were only actively employed with the company for 5 short months. Your sudden departure did leave the company short staffed, it was unfortunate when you had to go. As the HR Coordinator, you were making a positive impact to the culture of the company, and many of the initiatives you began are still being grown and developed. Hopefully your new role will be more fulfilling to you and you will find a culture that fits your needs.

Pros

The only redeeming quality of this place, is the rest of the employees who are some of the nicest people.

Cons

Deciding to join this company was the worst decision I have ever made. In my opinion, ActiveCo's management is unethical, unscrupulous and just downright bad. I was extremely overworked, underpaid and not in the slightest appreciated for any of the work that I did. I was constantly verbally harassed, micromanaged, belittled and reprimanded. Here is a laundry list of things that I found wrong with this company: - ActiveCo's work environment is highly toxic and fake. Everything you see about its culture on social media is fabricated to make the company look good. - Work-life balance is non-existent. They expect you to come in early and stay late without any overtime or compensation, but if you need time off or to leave early, they will create a huge fuss and very happily deduct your pay even if you are salaried. I can't speak for the other employees but this has happened with me many times. - For the length of time I worked at ActiveCo, it was a constant revolving door of people joining and leaving the company. This left the company short staffed a lot of the time. - The management of employees is extremely terrible and there is always favoritism at play. - Being a mid-sized company, there is an understanding that everyone pitches in and helps, but ActiveCo takes this understanding for granted. I was constantly expected to help in various departments with little to no training and wasn't even asked if I could take on the extra workload, I was just expected to. - I found that there is very basic benefits which I had to pay 50% for and there is no sick leave at all or vacation in the first year. They also have a very convoluted way of calcuting vacation. There is just so much more wrong with this company that I haven't mentioned in my review and I have never been so glad to have left a company.

It is unfortunate to read your departure from ActiveCo left you with a negative perspective, and could not discuss with management and work towards having a greater experience. Our online culture posts revolve around the people that we work with and the food that we share, unfortunately the statement contradicts the "pro" statement above of ActiveCo having some of the nicest people. We do agree with that and glad you had that positive experience with the team. Our team is growing, with average tenure of employees being 4 years. We do work hard but together, as we are essential to the success of other businesses, there are times that we do have to work outside of regular business hours to reach successful outcomes; please note that employees are compensated for this time either paid, or time-off in lieu. ActiveCo follows the BC Government guidelines for paid time off. Your departure from ActiveCo also unfortunately left the company short-staffed, we encourage the team to talk first about concerns so that we could work on resolutions, even if we cannot and it means instead planning a gradual and graceful exit, we can plan with you as this better supports the team as well. As a small company, there are times when people do need to fill in other roles within the organization. For some, this is an opportunity to grow and expand their skills and abilities, providing them with greater knowledge of what the business does, and enhance their skills in their current role. We appreciate the time you put in to write a review, though we wish your time was better than you feel you experienced and hope you are able to find the right fit.

Pros

Technology company wannabe? Good actor everywhere?

Cons

Bunch of business man pretend to know about technology Officer compared technician to 5 star restaurant waiter Asking for 1000% effort, and only willing to give 10% to value people Expect to have 10 days vacation after 1 year? Nope, after 2 years you will have your 10 days because their super weird way to count vacation. Race based for better treatment Don't let all of their fake 5* fool you.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, we’re sorry to see your comments show that your time here was not a positive time at all. We have to appreciate not everyone’s experience working in a fast-paced and changing service model will be the same. We take pains to learn and grow, as an equal opportunity employer and a service company that learns new needs from their clients on a daily basis, meaning service models change as needed.
