      Pros

      Company perks and benefits were wonderful. Excellent amount of PTO and holidays. Great 401k plan.

      Cons

      Politics. Upper management protected those they were closest to by allowing them to work a schedule that fit their needs; work on projects they wanted to work on or let them pass on a project if they had too much going on in their personal life. If you weren’t part of the clique requests were met with much resistance.

      Pros

      Compared to other media jobs, Advance offers relatively competitive pay and caters to some larger news markets than most community news publications. The branch that I worked for spent a lot on maintaining the company's image, which can feel pretty good.

      Cons

      The company has a great plan for saving journalism. It just changes that plan on a day-to-day basis. If they're not laying off their staff, they're hiring. There's no real job security, and the company seems willing to throw employees away without real thought to the next step.

      My original position was eliminated forcing me into a position I probably would have never applied for on my own, but I'm sure that could happen any where
