Pros

The people you work with - at an exec level - are the best part of the ASA. The work is interesting and you are genuinely doing something good for society. Work hard there, then move out and you will do well elsewhere.

Cons

Old timers make up almost all of the managerial positions and you'll never be promoted above senior exec level. Getting a senior exec role is practically impossible because their are so few and they are competitive.

Pros

Friendly staff, pay is okay, flexible working is good

Cons

Micro aggressions and poor behaviour from senior management Lack of diversity ie-age diversity at junior level was low mainly young staff, no visible persons with a disability, no black men in this organisation and only black females at a junior level. Given project work when management already know the outcome they are looking for. Say they will listen and embrace change, think they prefer to maintain the status quo.

Pros

The staff are friendly, supportive. The staff benefits are okay better than most especially sick leave, pension and pay. Good on flexible working. Nice office space and staff socials such as the summer social and Christmas party. Unionised, although would question how much influence the staff reps have.

Cons

Senior Management Team have been in post for a considerably long time..Think the CEO worked his way up from a junior role. I would question with an SMT in post for such a long time their ability to deliver fresh and innovative ideas/change. Lack of diversity in middle management and SMT, there are no black/persons of colour managers, maybe 1. Black staff leave much faster than their white counterparts. Performance appraisal system is long winded, subjective and allows for bias, the grade you receive will affect your pay. Decision making process is slow and changes depending on who you speak to. They allow you to think you’re being consulted when they’ve already made up their minds and decided on the outcome. KPI and target driven environment especially at Complaints and Investigation Exec level. Would question their commitment to EDI using 2/3 staff to volunteer on top of their day jobs doing nice things, not really able to challenge the status quo. They receive a voucher for the role, no paid resource. If you’re liked by the management and fit in you’ll do well, upset them with your views/outspoken they become defensive, shocked you’ll notice the subtle negative change in behaviour towards you i.e you need to fit in, sound like them.
