Pros

you get paid your base salary. Good for a temporary job while you find a good option.

Cons

This company revolves around the owner who will get tantrums periodically, doesn't respect other professionals and speaks profanity every time he gets a chance. He has been known for firing people on the spot over a disagreement. The people who have survived this culture are mostly bullies. There's no clear mission, vision or values. The career growth and ethical hiring practices are totally absent. There's absolutely no empowerment to Human Resources nor any other department. Working at AerSale is like working in a dictatorship type of environment with marked social distance and inequality based on the level in the organization and friendship with top leaders/ stakeholders. They fire massive amounts of personnel when revenue declines in a totally inhumane manner. For example, they just laid off 25% of their workforce effective immediately, with zero severance package and no medical insurance. It's happened more than once. In addition, periodically, employees are coerced to post positive reviews on this site to influence any sort of potential that they might develop to go public.

Where Workplace Culture Goes To Die

Pros

Direct Deposit, Free coffee, computers that occasionally work.

Cons

If you’re looking for a workplace culture that embraces everything that was horrible about 1950’s management then Aersale is the place for you. You’ll love the yelling and screaming at employees and the public executions when you are perceived to have made a mistake. Pol Pot would have blushed at the level of dictatorial rule you’ll find at Aersale. F bombs fly around like rice on a wedding day. Threats are the order of the day, every day. Blame is always cast to the lowest level and praise is reserved for senior leadership. If a mistake is made and that makes its way to the CEO you may as well find a box and start packing. The CEO is, of course, exempt from criticism. He bought an airline that blew through cash like a lottery winner at a Vegas strip club. All told they wrote off about $20 million when it was finally sold off. Oops. He still got his $500K bonus at the end of the year, of course. Every day is a Groundhog Day of Keystone Cops. What was right yesterday is wrong today and, of course, your fault. There are people at Aersale whose sole purpose is to reinvent the wheel every single day. To be successful at Aersale means you will do and say anything that is consistent with totalitarian rule. You must fit the mold of “one of the boys”. Can you hold your booze and harass female employees? That’s a good start. Safety and compliance with any rule are at the sole convenience of the company. You must, of course, pledge you undying loyalty to the company. That loyalty, of course, will not be returned. They are happy to lie to you about reorganization plans and relocations of facilities and have storied history of doing so. They are happy to send you packing the very second things get dicey. This week they laid off 25% of their total staff. You’re called into an office and told to get out the door. Run, don’t walk, from Aersale.

BEWARE: Poor Leadership

Pros

Cons

Writing this review about AerSale has brought me great sadness in knowing the lack of true leadership that exists there. Leaders should be judged by how they handle a crisis and true leaders respond in a way that is purpose driven with a clear human focus seeing a crisis as a key leadership moment for them to help others. Instead of responding to the COVID-19 pandemic by exploring alternatives to layoffs and trying to find solutions to retain good employees who had dedicated years of service to the company AerSale immediately panicked and responded by laying off 25% of the workforce without severance, PTO or medical benefits. This shows reactionary management not strategic leadership. AerSale used layoffs as the first line of defense rather than the last resort but this is not shocking since layoffs typically mount off here at a stunning pace even in a good economic environment. Layoffs should be managed in a way that leaves people with their dignity, humanity and as much support as you can give them especially when there is a pandemic and employees have provided years of service and have families to support but the insensitive and indifferent approach taken by AerSale was inhumane. If you want a company that lays off employees in good times AND in bad and you enjoy the thrill of questioning your job security on a daily basis then this is the right place for you.
