Cons

Writing this review about AerSale has brought me great sadness in knowing the lack of true leadership that exists there. Leaders should be judged by how they handle a crisis and true leaders respond in a way that is purpose driven with a clear human focus seeing a crisis as a key leadership moment for them to help others. Instead of responding to the COVID-19 pandemic by exploring alternatives to layoffs and trying to find solutions to retain good employees who had dedicated years of service to the company AerSale immediately panicked and responded by laying off 25% of the workforce without severance, PTO or medical benefits. This shows reactionary management not strategic leadership. AerSale used layoffs as the first line of defense rather than the last resort but this is not shocking since layoffs typically mount off here at a stunning pace even in a good economic environment. Layoffs should be managed in a way that leaves people with their dignity, humanity and as much support as you can give them especially when there is a pandemic and employees have provided years of service and have families to support but the insensitive and indifferent approach taken by AerSale was inhumane. If you want a company that lays off employees in good times AND in bad and you enjoy the thrill of questioning your job security on a daily basis then this is the right place for you.

Pros

The base salary is competitive at the point of hire. That said, there are no cost-of-living adjustments or CPI-linked increases, so your real purchasing power declines the longer you stay.

Cons

Remote work flexibility was not applied consistently across the team, which created a sense of inequity among employees. There was no formal feedback process and no performance reviews during my time there, making it difficult to gauge expectations or grow professionally. I did not feel I developed new skills in this role. The general atmosphere in the office felt tense and morale appeared low across the team. Communication from leadership was at times intense and difficult to navigate.
