Work is Awesome but the company management is just horrible
Pros
1. If you work in this network environment, you will learn most of things necessary for the todays market. Since they havegovernment clients, the company is forced is follow all the best networking practices. 2. The networking devices range from Load balancers, Nexus Devices, NSX devices, Firewalls, they have 3 vendors FortiGate, Checkpoint and ASA. You will become an expert in VPN/Firewall troubleshooting. You will also develop a good foundation for Routing and Switching side of things. You will understand all the aspects of blacklisting/Whitelisting a firewall rule, providing public access, all the concepts of DNS become clear to you. 3. This is basically dream job if you are an entry level or a mid-level engineer. There is a huge scope for learning if you put the management of the higher ups aside and learn stuff, you will learn huge list of topics. 4. Putting aside the politics and the worst management, the job is definitely good. But they do test your patience regularly. 5. Some of the employees I have known went to bigger companies in Hyderabad after the experience that they had here. I know some of employees who did well in the interviews after the work experience here 6. Excellent work contracts with projects such State Data Centre and Secretariat Hyderabad
Cons
1. They make you sign a contract. Try to negotiate on the contract. It is so crazy to come out the contract, most of my colleagues tried to leave but it was a big pain for them some of them could not. 2. There is politics, no one is going teach, you have to learn and you will learn. Some of the Senior guys are insecure about their position, so they don’t teach you or give a proper KT. 3. Be read to work longer hours if you are on shift. 4. If you are on a shift, there are no allowances, no holidays. You are the mercy of your fellow engineers if you are on an emergency. 5. Salary is low compared to marketing standards. 6. You are working mostly for the government clients. The directors/Joint directors are typically behaved like political rowdies, everyone is so afraid/frustrated it doesn’t even make sense to go on for a long period with that kind of environment. 7. The seniors can go on crazy on you sometimes in spite of nothing being your fault. 8. They make you do paperwork as if you are mule to the organization General Advice from my experience: 1. Accept the offer only if you can commit for 2 years, if you another offer even if it’s less salary takes the other one you will thank yourself later. 2. If you want to have good platform for building skills and don’t care about salary, take the job. Final Note: I worked here for about two years. I was pretty sensitive and a mild guy but I still managed the role since I did not let myself worry about money, politics, rude management. I just worried about learning as much as I could. I hated it initially but the job definitely made me better Network Engineer. I quit right after my contract. I had good experience since I managed to stay on the good side of the company very long. If a below average engineer as myself with such a plain attitude can manage so can you. Good luck!
