I worked at Alinta Energy full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The wholesale/ spot trading and wider tpm team is great place to be, along with the corporate services team that supports that business pillar. Lots of engagement, everyone gets along well, no BS, and great opportunities to get involved in lots of projects. If you are competent you will get lots of rope to run with ideas and projects with no micro management. You will be expected to deliver, but no one will shoot you for trying. Genuinely great team of smooth and supportive operators. The executive team and Jeff are very approachable. It’s a flat organisation, so everyone has opportunity to present and bring ideas to their executive. Even if you are an entry level analyst/ manager, chances are the executive team know you by name and will come talk to you individually if they need something which gives a high degree of work satisfaction. Socially as well, the executive team is very approachable, not just with after work drinks, but also things like sport, one of the executive, Dan, runs a ongoing boxing fitness session, which anyone can join. Offices are modern and chic. And the bonus system is pretty good.

    Cons

It can get pretty busy at times, and certain teams are under the pump a lot, however this is more a reflection of the industry being inundated with market and regulatory changes. I understand most other energy companies are similarly experiencing this. Also it can be quite hard to get experience in different roles, it would be great if in the future role sharing / rotations were introduced, this would be good way to cross skill employees and give them career development.

I worked at Alinta Energy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great colleagues and social culture. A lot of potential.

    Cons

Management is entirely out of their depth managing the transformation they are undertaking. Many leaders in roles they have very little understanding of and feedback is largely disregarded (if it's ever asked for). So much wasted talent and opportunities by a lack of vision, direction and even understanding of how to thrive in the current environment and in an increasingly online marketplace. So far behind now that they can't afford to modernise and waste every opportunity they have to do so. Stability of the company is often in question and it often looks that they are falling further behind.

I have been working at Alinta Energy full-time

    Pros

Aside from how they treated their staff at a critical time, Alinta had good compensation and benefits, and good work/life balance. However, it is a shame they do not value their employees when push comes to shove.

    Cons

Alinta did the bare minimum to keep their staff amongst COVID struggles. Started getting rid of people within a month of WFH with no notice. People come first was not a moto Alinta followed, and the fact that they keep it as their value is a joke. Got to wonder if the execs even took a pay cut? Could have made them part time, could have cut their salaries, but leaving them unemployed at a time like this with families and kids to care for...makes you think. I have seen people sacrifice a lot to work hard for Alinta, imagine being let go when you need to rely on your job more than anything.

I have been working at Alinta Energy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Leaders are approachable, present and decent people, and most people have the autonomy and support to actually get their own ideas up and implemented. Doesn't have the oppresive feel of a larger corporate with too many people doing bs jobs and creating ridiculous bureaucracy.

    Cons

Not yet as sophisticated in terms of systems and processes as larger competitors, and so it can be tough for people who expect everything to be laid out for them.

    Pros

    1. Strong emphasis on employees' safety. 2. Nice work/life balance. 3. Morning tea events are awesome.

I have been working at Alinta Energy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Alinta Energy has a great work culture and is growing at a very fast pace. Located at a central location, this organisation has a lot more to offer including flexible working arrangements, learning opportunities, career growth and a competitive salary.

    Cons

The fast paced environment isn't for everyone. You would need to be proactive with a desire to make a difference.
