Cons
Owner is mainly concerned about money, shows no respect for employee physical and mental health. He loves to triple and quadruple book the schedule and will tell clients to come in “right now” even if it’s already slammed. Tries to do everything on his own and does not fully utilize his techs. Pay is minimum wage or just above it, even for people who have lots of experience and/or have been there several years. No health insurance, no paid time off, no holiday or sick pay. Scrubs are not provided and no uniform allowance. No tuition reimbursement or assistance. Owner is not supportive of vet tech school to get licensed, always says “you don’t need school.” In reality, he doesn’t want to pay RVT wages. High staff turnover. What is lunch? Days where you actually get to sit for a full, uninterrupted lunch are rare. But you get to stay clocked in for lunch which is a plus.
