Pros

As long as you work 40 hours in a week, you can leave early or come in late if you need to. The pay is good for the area, but that is because the federal government sets the wages.

Cons

Hurricane Florence was an eye opener. Office was shut down for over a week. During that time you were forced to use accrued paid time off. I suspect this has to do with how they bill the government. The lack of empathy from corporate was a little jarring, if you didn’t have enough paid time off to use you just didn’t get paid. In an act of mercy, the office was opened on Saturday to make up hours. Then, we lost power at 1pm as Hurricane Michael came into the area. At 1:30 management informed the employees that we wouldn’t be paid until the power came back on. Many employees are able to work “offline,” such as making edits to rough copies of publications they’re working on, this didn’t matter. We were welcome to wait around until power came back but that was on our dime. Make no mistake, you’re just a cog in a machine and they don’t really care about you. Upward movement is next to impossible, many employees have been stuck in the same position for a decade. There just aren’t many positions to ascend to and the structure is pretty static. This is pretty demoralizing because the work is extremely boring and presents basically zero challenge. If you’re ambitious, this place will cure that. Different rules apply to different employees, especially when it comes to the “business casual” dress code. I missed the memo that stated tank tops from local Harley Davidson dealers was acceptable attire. The recent treatment of employees during the hurricanes has made it obvious this is but a temporary place. If you lack ambition and enjoy being treated like a tool, you’ll love it.

Pros

No pros at this company.

Cons

Poor management on all levels. Very cliquish. Lots of backbiting and rudeness. Very unorganzied. Too much micromanagement. They monitor EVERYTHING you do. Pay was far below scale for the position. Was forced by male supervisor to attend a Christmas party at Hooters even though Huntsville has MANY nicer venues.

Pros

No pros to work at this company

Cons

Don't care about their employees. Don't pay their employee if they are sent home because someone else within the company gets sick. Have to use all your leave pay or go leave witout pay if the base is shut down at no fault of the employee. Have nepotism within the company and management only promotes their favorites, not based on skills or education. Their is no communication from human resources or managment.
