Pros

Absolutely nothing that I gained here. A huge relief after leaving.

Cons

I joined after going through an exhausting 8-round interview process, expecting to work in an environment that valued talent and hard work. However, the reality was far from it. Once you’re in, the pressure continues with unnecessary and overly dramatic evaluations that feel more like a performance than a genuine effort to improve or support employees. There’s no real freedom of speech—you’re expected to conform to what management wants, and any differing opinions are either ignored or dismissed. Support is lacking, and micromanagement is the norm. The culture is toxic, with long-term employees barely acknowledging new hires, making it an isolating and unwelcoming environment. To make things worse, compensation is below market standards, yet management spends excessively on entertaining potential clients with lavish meals that often go to waste. No meaningful projects are available in the Perth region, leaving employees under constant pressure with little opportunity to grow or contribute meaningfully. If you’re considering joining, be prepared for a challenging and unsupportive environment that may not be worth the effort you put in to get there.

Pros

There are many pros but more cons. Let me list the most important pros: 1. Absolutely good to have in your profile. 2. Massive learning opportunities. 3. Salary was okay.

Cons

1. Selfish. performance and non-collaborative environment. It cannot be worse! You will feel disconnected, targeted and under pressure all time. People try to survive for as long as they could! You can justify the poor culture and environment in a fulfilment centre not in a software house! 2. Fake gender diversity culture. The management unrealistically hire females then ask them to leave to put numbers on the board. 3. No fun at all. Peeps working for AWS love the lights. No one enjoys work as you would do if you work in a local Aussie company.

Pros

May be just the subsidised health insurance.

Cons

It has to be the cheapest American company I have ever worked for in Australia. They have been slowly clawing back the benefits that they gave to their employees. To begin with almost all the major companies have some sort of bonus that is paid every year. AWS just lures people with joining bonus that gets paid for just initial 2 years. More over the Support Center is more of a glorified call center. Micro-management is rife and you are never made to feel like you are a part of the company. They talk about 16 leadership principles, but it is all hypocrite. Its just for front line engineers while the upper management use it as an excuse to make support engineers over work. Work life balance is a big joke.
