From Good to Worse

Pros

Nice office, some nice people, lots of social activities, great office. There is still an opportunity to learn something. Used to be really collaborative, people worked with eachother, not anymore though.

Cons

The transition from good place to work to worse. Feels like a chapter from Hunger Games. Started with nerf guns not bows and arrows, but either way people are dropping, no one has immunity, unless you’re from District One (Developers). President Snow, ooops Superman is watching you. No hugging unless sanctioned by Superman, or you get fired, actually best not to have an opinion, make decisions, or speak to someone publicly without approval or you might get fired. I think hes just going to keep firing until he replaces all the old people and gets new ones that are blindly loyal just to him. Beware, with the new direction your District will be eliminated or decimated, whichever comes first.

CEO HAS NO CLUE

Pros

Free beer, free food, great office, free parking, good location. used to be a really fun place to work.

Cons

CEO knows nothing about oil production, well operations, or well optimization or the industry, at all. He can't even tell a PCP from an ESP, or how a rod pump works. He sure does try to compensate for it. All he does is talk talk talk, and is so self absorbed that he doesn't even notice when he looks stupid while trying really hard to sound soo smart. Talk about insecure and paranoid, he checks our emails and watches what you do like a hawk. At the same time always pushing how great he is, how he is a super(man) CEO with great ideas and lots of talk. I think he thinks the people are too stupid to notice. Any new management fad is the topic of the week, just don't forget to set your timer. Talk about crazy hiring and firing since he pushed out the last guy (and that was weird too). I can't wait until we start doing "family termination sessions" to follow "family interviews". If I get "incredibly good looking people " to join the company I'll get a $1000 bonus. Its pretty clear that superficial appearance now defines who we need to be to succeed and defines our new culture. I don't think I'm that good looking, and I'm obviously not part of the in crowd, so I'd better start looking for a new job. Word of caution, if you have a different opinion, hell intimidate or pressure you to confess or use examples of previously fired employees to threaten with lawyers, so pay attention and better do what your told. FYI your company email is NOT private. Hey, he told us to post on Glassdoor, so here it is. Check out the entries from June and July, they are exactly like the propaganda hes feeding us weekly, great writing by him or on his orders. I don't know where the company is going, but I know Im on my way out, just biding my time. I wonder how the new hires feel, have they noticed that what they are sold on and what the reality is not the same?

Great company, poor leadership

Pros

Nice work environment - open office, badminton court, ping-pong, foosball table. Friendly colleagues. Can work from home and have some flexibility in work hours.

Cons

Unfortunately the new CEO doesn't know much about the business and industry. He has an enormous ego and will not listen to anyone else. People who doesn't bow down to his "great ideas" tend to be fired first, often citing lack of "culture fit". The logic is like this: rules are created to define the "culture", anyone who doesn't obey will be judged as not "fitting into the culture" and should be let go. In contrast, people who constantly suck up the CEO gets to stay even with poor work performance and irrelevant career backgrounds. Newcomers beware: Do not speak ill of the CEO - he's got at least one "close associate" in every department who will report you.
