Pros
The only real pros are it gives employees medical device experience to use for jobs somewhere else. The majority of people are good people, especially at the lower levels. The higher you go the shadier the people are.
Cons
Dishonest and manipulating executives. The pay is below market value for most positions. The new CEO continues to hire executive level positions and no worker bees. For a company with only 50 or so people the executive/worker ratio is way out of whack. Ameda doesn't promote growth within. Most people leave to find success at other companies then Ameda will replace them with people who have failed elsewhere and give them higher salaries than the people who left. Continuous interference from board and executives stifle any creativity or forward thinking. This company will always take a back seat to Medela due the lack of encouragement and financial commitment of the Engineering department. CEO is made aware of issues in departments and doesn't do anything about it. He just continues to act like he's trying, but the inevitable collapse of this company will rest at his feet for failing to take appropriate action to rectify the situation. The best employees continue to walk out the door and many more are looking for the right opportunity. The backstabbing and phony culture the CEO has put in place has most employees disenfranchised and ready to bolt at the first chance. They talk about developing employees but they never do. No development plan for employees. If you get hired just assume you will stay at your position for as long as you choose to stay. The only employees content to stay are the ones who know they are getting a free paycheck and couldn't get away with their performance at any other company.
