Pros

Hires lots of foreign employees. No limits on unpaid time off.

Cons

My comments only apply to the government side, not commercial. I work on government projects only. The environment here is dreadful and one of the only reasons I have stayed as long as I have is because I need a visa. Of course, this company thinks it can exploit people because they need a visa to live in Japan. They force me to go to a job site that is a 1.5hr commute away from my home, and when I complain to HR, they tell me it's justified because I always have the choice to leave that team. While it was my choice to stay in the team, my boss is the true reason I stayed - she helped me and taught me everything I needed to know for this job. I couldn't survive in this company without her. So basically management says, go on then you're now commuting 3 hours a day. Like this, the company very easily forces you to do overtime and you burn out fast. It's not fun. It's not rewarding. Everyone at this company seems to have a workaholic, overtime addicted attitude towards the job. And many people you will work with are gross or rude or hateful or selfish. The company is full of old men and it's very uncomfortable as a young woman. Plus, the pay is sad too. Even the promise of a raise is followed up an astonishing 6 months later. In the end it doesn't make a difference. Project coordinators are grunts and we get paid grunt wage. Don't expect to be able to afford a nicer place to live or a personal vehicle unless you pull some kind of miracle and come back with an engineering or project management certification, oh and 10 years of experience. In the first few months of this job I would have certainly found something nice to say; maybe about how they gave me an opportunity I didn't think I really deserved. But that cannot overshadow the poor work life balance, the overworking, the cheap wages, and the exploitative management, who bend to our customer's every will. To sum up, management exploits the workers and I cannot recommend anyone to work in this industry. There are some who have a very specific set of skills and experience who will gravitate to this company; good for you. Everyone else is suffering.

Pros

Very easy to get hired if you have anyone working there. Dress code is relaxed and offers you to choose your own shift.

Cons

Toxic environment, lots of gossip over chats, salary is too low. Educational background and skills are being very underestimated over the relationships with managers. They put high school diploma with university graduates at the same level and behave very biased. That is why turnovers are very high.

Pros

Easy to get hired if sufficient Japanese or English language proficiency. Low starting salary, but if willing to stick around for years, there is a chance for promotion. Dress code is relaxed. Easy to take leave.

Cons

Workers are undertrained and underpaid, which leads to high turnover rate. Lot of unprofessional, toxic behavior goes unchecked. Management is too stressed to deal with any deeper lying issues, but due to being the only company providing services to the biggest client in the region, there is no acute need for improvement.
