Pros

- Board members and lay leaders care about the organization - National office and DC office seem to do good work

Cons

- Regional office is mismanaged, disorganized, inefficient - Expect to be thrown in with no training - Office has no historical documents, current processes, or defined future goals - No accountability for manager or support staff - Office politics are unprofessional

Pros

Great co-workers who are incredibly dedicated, knowledgable, and supportive. Employees don't work on any Jewish holidays. Donors (aka Lay Leaders) get to feel as if they are involved in AJC's advocacy - not just making a donation - because they are given leadership positions within the organization.

Cons

Regional offices are not well-staffed. Salaries are low, especially when considering the number of evenings and weekends employees typically work. Lay Leaders (i.e. donors to whom we give volunteer positions within the organization) often wield excessive influence. Relationship between Lay Leaders and staff can often be strained and awkward.

Pros

Individuals at this organization are all incredibly dedicated to their mission.

Cons

Salaries are LOW. It is next to impossible to get any time of raise or promotion- the smallest raise can take years. Not a place to build your career long term. Great mission, but good intentions do not pay the bills. Management is largely out of touch with what the organization actually does. Staff have been stuck in crisis management mode for a year, which is taking a toll on its staff.
