Pros

- The technology is interesting and potentially environmentally beneficial. - Mostly interesting and friendly coworkers (and some jerks). - Decent pay and benefits.

Cons

- Zero tolerance for even the smallest mistakes - Bad work/life balance for some roles. Expect 15 hour days and working on weekends frequently for any technical role - Deceivingly altruistic. In reality, there is a low emphasis on diversity and inclusion. The vast majority of turnover (either firings or layoffs) consists of marginalized racial/ethnic identities and women. - Cliquey culture and the management is sociopathic and unempathetic. - Anti-intellectual atmosphere. The company culture rewards yes-men and dislikes critical thinkers or anyone that seems too self-directed. - Greenwashing. This company is heavily bankrolled by the fossil fuel industry, which creates a disingenuous, awkward, and uninspiring atmosphere. - Socially problematic. The technology is dangerous and inefficient and could even make climate change worse if not properly implemented.

Pros

Large headcount with many talented engineers Well funded startup Competitive pay Good location and office facilities

Cons

Lack of financial discipline and wasteful spending Large round of layoffs Unrealistic project timelines driven by inexperienced leadership Concerningly unqualified and disingenuous leadership at all levels of the organization. Leadership and management have repeatedly shown a lack of empathy showing limited consideration for employee well-being. Many employees were pushed to work long hours by upper and C-level management to meet a key milestone, only to be laid off just days after its successful completion High turnover of experienced professionals, with a focus on retaining less qualified staff Overly siloed organizational structure and excessive managerial headcount hindering cross-functional collaboration Toxic, cliquish workplace culture Bullying behavior openly prevalent and largely ignored by both management and HR. Unrealistic project timelines driven by pressure from inexperienced leadership Numerous safety concerns, including fires and gas leaks, with a reactive approach to incidents Experienced engineers are often sidelined when offering feedback that challenges leadership or the status quo
