Pros

A good place to gain experience in most aspects of environmental consulting. They don't really have specialists, but rather generalists that are made to do work on everything

Cons

Very negative work environment. David Zweig was an awful boss. No positive encouragement by project managers. Very low salaries compare to other consulting firms. High turn over rate.

Pros

- Hires College Graduates with No Experience - Tons of experience in variety of projects - Micro-managing gurus, so if you need your hand held, this is perfect until you can do it on your own - If you're male, you'll get great raises and bonuses - Requires 100% billability which will make you look great at your next job when you can work so efficiently (however your new employer will not approve of moving hours around to different projects in order for you to become 100% billable) - Other companies understand the poor business model of AES and do not hold quitting/firing against you when you need to find other employment. Most of the other companies will seek you out when they see you're on the market since they understand you have a wide variety of projects in your background!

Cons

- Conservatively-dressed females are paid less - Not much room for growth until people quit - Huge turnover rate, and they don't see a problem with that - Current employees flood GlassDoor with positive reviews to keep the reviews high (Owner does not like social media for fear of bad reviews and bad publicity- hence no FaceBook, IG, Twitter, etc.) - Cliques are fierce, and if you're not "in" you never will be. - Brown-nosing will get you very far. - Only a handful of people who have the "in" have stayed longer than 3 years or so, but rarely do you see them smile... (You know who you are- and my advice to you is: "THERE IS SOMETHING BETTER!!!"

Pros

This is a relatively small company, which allows for the employees to get hands-on experience with a ton of different aspects of CEQA/NEPA document preparation and analysis.

Cons

Nearly no promotion from within. Almost no training is offered; you have to be able to hit the ground running and figure it out as you go. Relatively low compensation offered compared with the amount of work you are expected to take on. Extremely quiet office. Very rare that senior management acknowledges/compliments employees for work effort.
