Pros

One positive aspect of the company was the opportunity to work with supportive colleagues, consultants, and mentors who were knowledgeable and willing to help.

Cons

I joined this company last year after initially applying for a Talent Acquisition Executive role. Before proceeding to the second interview, I was instead offered a PA & Researcher position. One of the main challenges I experienced was a mismatch between the working conditions advertised and the actual expectations after joining. The job listing stated working hours of 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, but in practice, the working hours for the role were extended to 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM without additional compensation. The working environment felt highly micromanage and closely monitored. Employees were required to share their screens during working hours, which created a sense of constant supervision and limited autonomy. At the same time, performance expectations were quite high relative to the compensation offered. Another concern was the expectation for employees, particularly in research roles, to provide their own high-spec equipment. In my case, upgrading to a suitable PC required a significant personal investment that exceeded my monthly salary. Despite this, job security felt uncertain, and employee turnover appeared relatively high during my time with the company. There also seemed to be a significant gap in compensation between Indonesian remote employees and employees from other countries for very similar responsibilities. While searching for remote opportunities in Malaysia last year, I noticed that this company posted job ads in Malaysia with significantly higher compensation packages. Employees based in other countries appeared to receive higher compensation packages, while Indonesian employees were expected to work longer hours with fewer benefits and no overtime compensation. Additionally, there were no local statutory benefits provided to Indonesian employees during my tenure. Considering the workload, extended hours, and level of monitoring involved, the overall compensation and benefits did not feel aligned with the expectations of the role.

Pros

All the colleagues are always helpful and willing to support each other. Specifically happy to have my leader Samantha and senior Vervain to always be generous in sharing their knowledge and guiding newcomers. Thankful for the bosses that allow me to take my space to grow and learn. Grateful to have generous consultants and IT team to always provide us the information we need even though they are already very busy with their own work.

Cons

It can be slightly hard for someone who is not tech-savvy.

Pros

• Friendly and supportive colleagues at the operational level. • A low-pressure physical environment, suitable for introverts — most communication was online, as the majority of employees were Malaysian and Indonesian staff working remotely from their home countries. • Exposure to Singapore’s recruitment market for overseas recruiters, even without the Certificate of Employment Intermediaries (CEI). The company’s position is that CEI certification is only required for those physically conducting Employment Agency (EA) work in Singapore. • Benefits focused on retention, such as meal reimbursements for Singapore-based employees.

Cons

• Strict Monitoring and Daily Oversight: Employees were required to screen-share their desktops continuously and to log all breaks, including for lunch, restroom visits, and water refills, through the internal system. • Mixed Messaging Around Remote Work: Although work-from-home arrangements were allowed for Malaysia and Indonesia-based employees, leadership comments such as “most companies have returned onsite, but we still allow WFH” were often used to justify stricter oversight. This seemed at odds with current practices in larger organizations that offer flexible models built on trust. • Limited Engagement Opportunities: For introverted employees, minimal physical interaction could be a plus. However, the isolation was real. A colleague cited lack of engagement as a factor influencing her decision to leave. • Turnover and Exit Experiences: Turnover during my time was notable. In one case, an experienced colleague who resigned was subjected to unnecessary scrutiny, including being asked to justify her resignation repeatedly. Her exit was shared as being “overwhelmed with training,” which did not accurately reflect the reasons for her departure. This led to a sense of disrespect for employees who choose to move on.
