Pros

This is a competent place where you will learn how the publishing industry in the Philippines works. They can hone your abilities and lets you develop new skills. Employees are well versed in what they do. They also have good benefits.

Cons

It’s very toxic to work in a place where there is office politics. Compensation is too low. The fees for freelancers are not reasonable. Division of task is not clear. There is unfair treatment between employees and management. They don’t give you credits for your hard work. The company has a high turnover rate. Promotion happens once in a blue moon. Management is ignorant of their employees’ work situation.

Pros

The prestige of working at Anvil Publishing, the biggest trade books publisher in country so far.

Cons

If you’re planning to work for this company, I only have one piece of advice: do not bother sending that resume. I'll tell you why: 1) This company is under the infamous National BS, the biggest bookstore chain in the country. The association pretty much says everything. 2) They micromanage a lot of their staff. They demand a lot when they can't even provide resources. Not truly a leader. 3) The company is short-staffed and is not willing to hire more people. Employees end up doing things not related to their positions. 4) They do not invest in their employees. No specialized trainings because management doesn't want to spend money. 5) Employees are underpaid. Management knows this but turns a blind eye. Employees are leaving because of this. The company has a high turn-over rate. 6) Lacks employee retention program. They don't know how to keep their employees. They don't know why they are leaving. 7) Lacks modernization. No advance equipment or tools to keep up with the rapidly changing landscape of publishing. 8) Disorganized structure. No efficient system of handling projects, customer complaints, orders, etc. 9) Has a toxic work environment. Cliques happen especially to older employees. Backstabbers, liars, manipulators, and users are present there. and lastly, 10) HR department is very incompetent. They do not know the responsibilities of their staff. PS 11) Friends of the execs get publishing deals even though their works are pure trash.

Pros

Working here is a great opportunity for expanding your knowledge about the industry.! Connections and all that.. You also get to work with different departments that each have their own functions in the process of producing books.. The job will make you wellrounded.

Cons

Low compensation that does not seem to improve.. You overwork yourself becoz of shortness of staff (becoz of high turnover.) And over all, company politics is dominant that does not help in boosting employee morale.
