Pros

Going home at 5:00 pm on a Friday. This company was problems from the beginning. I received an offer one day after my on-site interview, and even this was a red flag because companies usually need some time to reach a decision to hire an applicant. I should've followed my gut, declined the offer, and searched for better opportunities, but decided to take it because I needed the money. Outside of going home at 5:00 pm on Fridays, I guess the only positive aspect of Aperia is their salary helped me to fund my application and travel fees for medical school interviews, one of which turned into an acceptance. Thanks Aperia :D!

Cons

Their entire product line, airhead managers, employees who can barely speak English, communication problems, worthless insurance policy, micromanaging business analysts, work during weird hours of the night for product releases, a ridiculous turnover rate (15-20 people quit/released over a four month period), no standard protocol for software development, laughable vacation time integrated with sick leave for new employees, ugly cubicles with the appearance of a prison cell,

Pros

Covered parking. Easy walking distance to many restaurants with variety. Quick interview process. Salary was within what I asked for.

Cons

Employees were very sour and vulgar. One had open hatred for an application that they are an expert in, and apparently that's okay and normal. I was in a conference room once, and the CEO popped in just to make an off-color joke. Multiple occasions of people in the break room loudly swearing at each other. I was once given an assignment with largely incomplete information and several files that my computer couldn't open (with the trial version of an application). When I asked for more help, I was criticized for not learning fast enough... and then was provided all the info that I should have had in the first place. It's one thing to need thick skin when wrongly blamed. It's another to allow a culture of "I'm always right, you're always incompetent."

Pros

Good for entry-level experience due to fast past nature and ability to learn a lot in a short amount of time. Free bagels or donuts on Fridays.

Cons

Not a lot of advancement opportunity. Work in 24/7 environment/ on-call support, more availability for them, less for you in personal life. No yearly review, will have to ask for raise. Mediocre benefits, 401k not much to brag about.
