Great Coworkers Dont Outweigh Questionable Ethics

Pros

This company has some stellar employees. The teamwork and camaraderie is top-notch and the majority of "worker level" employees are incredibly dedicated to quality and operational excellence This company also has some of the standard biotech perks: lunches provided, company parties and activities, etc. Nothing to write home about, but appreciated in making your daily life minutely easier. Attempting to improve historically terrible company culture, though execution is not living up to the words espoused by executive level.

Cons

Executive team directs clinical laboratory to deliver questionable results when testing should be halted. "Worker level" personnel are treated as a replaceable commodity. They are asked to work excessive hours with little to no compensation, given essentially no career growth opportunities and little input on operational improvements. Benefit package is tragic. Excessively poor health care, retirement and PTO is offered. Products are developed in a vacuum, with little consultation from regulatory subject matter experts or end users. The end result thus far has been disastrous. Poor planning and budgeting impacts all employees: it often makes their daily life miserable and job security is at an all-time low. The majority of the executive level team does not live locally. Access to them may be difficult and the company pays a large budget on their unnecessary travel and hotel expenses that would be better served spent elsewhere.

Pros

Lots of perks if you're the right person

Cons

New CEO is horrible, the company spends all the money on c level exec travel and hotel. No room for growth. Laid off half the company on the Holiday Party day.

Don't step on that land mine

Pros

Industry standard salaries. Provide food and Apple products to employees. Decently innovative product. Not afraid to spend money. Some very intelligent, inventive people currently employed there.

Cons

Is it possible to submit an “overall rating” of less than zero on a glassdoor review? Any recent, positive reviews posted on this site can only be attributed to the company trying to save face following an onslaught of damaging information released by former employees – you reap what you sow. Please heed such warnings. Overtly stressful, toxic work environment plagued by mismanagement from the executive level on down, of which has seemingly been fostered and reinforced to grow as such. These sentiments are well known amongst the current lab staff, not just disgruntled ex-employees (of which there are many). Workers are expected to drink the company “Kool-Aid” and not question anything thereafter; meanwhile any valuable career experience you’ve gained is quickly diluted by (mostly) menial tasks that dull your intellect. Prospective employees need to abandon any hope of advancement, growth, or the possibility to learn new things. You’ll forget you’re doing science and realize you’re just towing the company line 60 hours a week (or more). The only thing that will be challenged here is your patience, sanity, and whether you are simply working for a paycheck and nothing else. Do yourself a favor and take a step forward in your career, not backwards with this company.
