Good days are harder to come by. Private Equity buyout & multiple ownership changes in a short amount of time has lead to headcount churn & loss of institutional knowledge. Some people / departments can be territorial, protective & unwilling to share resources or expertise - mostly out of self preservation in the face of so much pressure from profit squeezes & workforce reductions by each new ownership stake. Technical skills of coworkers are often lackluster, relevant guidance from leadership or peers can be hard to come by; job skills are expected to be self-taught - IT & HR are severely lacking in ability / budget to provide resources for role-specific training.
