Pros

Very smart data science team. Hilarious colleagues. Free cereal.

Cons

The CEO has no idea how he got there or what he's doing. The pace is so slow your IQ will drop 5 points every week you remain. Long commute out to airport.

Pros

- Most colleagues are friendly - A subsidiary of Cathay Pacific so can provide some travel benefits (though at very low priority, comparing with Cathay staff) - A well-known brand in Hong Kong

Cons

- Weak management team: some department heads are not qualified to lead a team at all, don't join if you are looking for good mentors; - Not much appreciation to staff: e.g. not effective nor attractive employee engagement program; some disrespectful managers/dept heads, etc. - High turn over rate: so high that you just keep having new colleagues then you no longer bother to remember their names - Try to run before they can even walk properly - Very local company culture, not suitable for those looking for dynamic MNC environment; - Location

Pros

Unique business model Interesting projects to try A stepping stone to better opportunities In most cases people are genuinely nice to work with

Cons

Inertia from Cathay Pacific is really hard to beat. When the mother company is losing money hand over fist because the management does not know how to handle the costs, you cannot expect Asia Miles’s outperformance to matter. Too many heads of department, all with good intentions, but a lot of unproductive infighting about things that do not matter. Some heads of departments creates really toxic environment for employees. Just look at the massive turn over. Asia Miles lost some really good people. To solve this, Asia Miles keeps hiring new comers from Europe with massive relocation packages. They will stick around because of the visa, but this is not the best way to retain your people.
