Pros

The best reason for working at Aspermont are the other staff. Despite all the obstacles working for this company, the people within it make it bearable to go to work each day. They are supportive of one another and readily help each other out. My advice: If you plan on taking on employment at Aspermont make sure you make friends, you will need them.

Cons

Outside of the editorial department there is no room for career advancement. Despite senior management promoting their desire to see employee growth this does not happen, without fail despite the qualifications of internal staff external members are hired for lucrative positions as it would be "too hard to replace people in the junior levels" which is understandable given some of these junior job roles and the low pay that goes hand in hand with them.

Pros

Aspermont provides a good opportunity to gain experience & increase skills as a journalist on various publications. It is good stepping stone to move on to more high paying and better journalist positions. A great starting point for any journalist who is beginning their career or who has limited experience. Upper editorial management is understanding, supportive, friendly and open to new ideas and willign to listen. Because of a shortage in staff, current employees are given the opportunity for rapid advancement and building on experience and skills in a much shorter time period, than a company who has plenty of staff to perform all required duties. Upper management are skilled and know what they are doing and this is beneficial for anyone who is learning. Journalists also do not have to work on weekends

Cons

The main downsides of working for Aspermont are low pay, expected to work a lot of overtime for no extra pay, salary discrepencies between men & women, and huge differences in salaries between departments. There is little flexibility and no advocacy of work-life balance. Employees are expected to work hard for little compensation. There is also a shortage of staff so current employees are frequently doing the jobs of two or even three people and quality is sometimes sacrifice. The environment is often stressful and employees frequently burn out and this results in a high staff turnover. There is often little communication between departmetns.

Pros

-Excellent people and team culture (especially in Australia) - Very flexible working options (WFH suits most of the Sales team) - A great set of publications/reports and services. Editorial do a great job. - A recently refurbished Perth office was a surprise. - If you treat Aspermont as a stepping stone in your career, you'll most likely be better off overall.

Cons

-Below market salary range. Management would rather let you go, than match it competitively. - No opportunity for any advancement or changing fields within the business. Eg; if you're in Subscriptions, you're going to stay in Subscriptions indefinitely. - A culmination of the above makes you feel very undervalued, hence why the moderate turnover rate.
