      Highly abusive and toxic culture based on my experience

      Pros

      Serving the mission, certain staff were great to work with.

      Cons

      Based on my experience, it was a highly abusive and toxic work culture. Only concerned about making money, the mission is a means to end. Worked incredibly long hours, constant stress with no positive affirmation, and certain members of the development department were mean, nasty, and rude to deal with. Executives were aloof nor did they care about low staff morale. Promotions based on nepotism and patronage.

      Pros

      Lots of fun and engaging team building activities for FREE. Workout classes 2 X week, Toastmasters, weekly walking group, accountability club, etc. Plus the mission is worthwhile and the Food Bank provides a much needed service to the community.

      Cons

      The Food Bank is in a place of extreme change (re-org). Many people who have been there 20+ years are being forced out in undignified ways. The new CEO makes decisions without consulting lower staff whose livelihoods and work-life balance those decisions largely affects.

      The mission is primary and the employees believe in fulfilling the mission to the best of their abilities.

      Cons

      Parking is always an issue and the organization is currently seeking a new CEO.
