A great set of hotels, but company has lost their way
Pros
Good challenges to invest in good properties. A great place for entrepreneur types, who like to jump in and solve problems. Plenty of opportunity to be creative and build great experiences for guests. Guest service is very good, with a lot of focus on connection. There are a lot of great people to work with, at all levels of the organization. The hotels succeed because of people who take pride in their work, and want to do their best, learning and growing as they move ahead.
Cons
All new top executives in the past 18 months. The current state of the corporate company is very scattered. Execs are focusing on the minutiae, instead if crafting a clear vision for the company. They get into the middle of small things, and blow them out of proportion, taking the focus off of activities that would grow the company and generate significant revenues. Feels like each day is a series of fire drills, so there is no chance to get ahead of the curve. Opinions change from day to day, so plans that were agreed on can suddenly switch and be the "wrong" plan, without warning. Execs are excessively negative, creating a culture where nothing is right, nothing is good enough, and even successes get pulled apart, giving attention to all the shortcomings. The company was really in a good growth trajectory a few years ago. It seems like that momentum is missing. The existing hotels are excellent places, but it's hard to see where they are headed at the moment.
