Pros

Coworkers are great, hard working people. The culture amongst staff is supportive and collaborative

Cons

Senior management and the CEO operate in a silo. Very top down management style. Managers are expected to micromanage staff and spend most of the work day doing just that. Telework is being reduced - you must be in office 3 days per week even though teams are spread all over the province. The executive are very poor, uninspiring leaders that lack basic leadership qualities.

Great colleagues and benefits overshadowed by poor leadership

Pros

The staff are awesome people to work with. The benefits are good.

Cons

The CEO seems to be making it his life's work and legacy to destroy the culture of this company. Most people work here because of the flexibility and telework. The CEO however is clawing back all the flexibility in order to make himself feel good. He has absolutely zero insight into what staff want/need and he is essentially a Mafia Don in a cheap suit. The company will rejoice when he leaves, if it is still around by then or has any staff left.

Pros

There are some great people who work here, and the benefits are alright. There are education opportunities. Much of the workforce is unionized.

Cons

You are a simply a number and are reminded of that often. The recognition is minimal. The compensation is subpar compared to the market. You could put your heart and soul into your job and work overtime etc but no one will care. They advertise many things about their culture being wonderful but the reality is that they are basing it on old data, and the current atmosphere is bleak. They have lost so many excellent employees with the change from a team approach work style to top-down management. The management is completely out of touch with its employees.
