Former Employee - Accountant (Financial Audit and SMSF) in Adelaide
    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I worked at BDO full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    > Free fruit and breakfasts > Good training for grads > Good exposure to both audit and SMSF where at most companies you'd only work in one division (although this is also a con - see below) > International secondment programs > Fast career progression

    Cons

    > Managers/Seniors don't know how to manage and unfortunately - especially on SMSF side > Lots of favouritism shown by managers > 50% year SMSF and other 50% year audit means that you are continually in busy season and it's hard to take time off and you are constantly doing 60 hour weeks > Big lack of senior staff meaning 2nd year accountants are overworked/long hours > Not enough time allocated to jobs meaning you log back in every night from home > Big issue with cliques > No involvement with other divisions of the business > If you want to transfer to another division you have to go back to being a grad again > Salaries are low
