Where do I begin? Pest infested offices that are incredibly dismal, toxic leadership, no accountability, terrible HR, minimal perks/benefits and a ton of empty promises. This place talks itself up by presenting itself as a "startup" culture. That is actually just code for you are expected to work yourself to the bone. The key difference here, though, is that this company has been around for over 10 years and unlike most startups, offers no perks or culture or support to its employees. Leadership consistently undermines its employees and micromanages the most minute of details in a way that makes the brand look inconsistent. There are no synergies between teams and everything operates in a silo. There is no strategy that comes from the top and no common goal to work towards. Instead all employees must march on their own separate paths with minimal direction, then rework everything when leadership finally decides they want to pay attention. HR might as well be non existent and are never held accountable for their actions. Tons of empty promises were made to new hires including a 401k and an office move. Neither of which seem to be happening any time soon. Without company wide strategies or goals, opportunities for career development and growth are minimal. This could be a way that leadership gets away with underpaying and not promoting people, since there are no real standards to adhere to or exemplify. Communication and transparency are things that do not exist here. Oftentimes things are never communicated or communicated so far after the fact that it is actually somewhat comical. No one has any sense of ownership over their roles and there is a lot of deadweight that people are just expected to work around. Outside consultants are hired on a whim and boss people around, adding to their workload and expecting them to bend over backwards at the drop of a hat. These consultants always point out things that employees are already aware of and have tried to voice to leadership but they refuse to listen unless someone outside of the company tells them. The office is incredibly depressing and constantly has issues including bathrooms being out of order, air conditioning being broken, pest infestations and leaky pipes. Employees are scolded when they try to make anyone aware of these issues and working from home is often frowned upon. The employee discount situation is laughable. You have to place a paper order and drive to the warehouse to pick it up in person. Bottom line is that this place should be avoided.
