Pros

The people are nice, mostly. Compensation was good, but because it's a large company, don't be surprised if that compensation is fleeting. They also have a severe case of confusion and chaos, with a lot of meetings that end up becoming redundant really quickly.

Cons

> A massive codebase, using a new framework, that was just created. > Where half the people you were working with left within a month of starting. > Insane expectations to learn something you've never used before (they may CLAIM to give you 3 months, but in actuality you're lucky if they give you 2. And if you say you need more time = pink slip time). > If you complain, or raise any legitimate issues, they will use that against you ( > Documentation that's 5-15 years old, no documentation for the new codebase, and no real way to train up people > "Firehydrant/Fire Hose" methodology of a ton of information, in incredibly short bursts, with no time to learn or even be able to take in notes > Everything is a bit of a mess there, with more time in meetings than anything else Honestly, don't be like me, don't be a dummy, look at the negative reviews. One would have to say that it's not only accurate, but shows systemic issues there.

Dishonest and Disorganized

Pros

Sadly I can’t think of any.

Cons

BST cares not about their employees. They only care about themselves. The SDLC is a joke. They are not agile as they claim. They have daily emergencies added into their so called sprints and you had better be available 24/7/365 to work on them or you’ll find yourself being negated by management. No work life balance at all, just get the job done now or else. At one point the manager called a meeting to let our group know it’s all about perception and not so much about work and actually said if you don’t like it you can and will be fired. Straight up said we are not needed and can easily be replaced. Benefits are awful, no 401k match, little vacation time, zero flexibility and a totally disorganized SDLC they refuse to fix despite honest feedback from employees who know how agile should work. The best thing I did was find a new job and leave here. I’m thrilled to say it’s in my past yet at times embarrassed to say I worked there

Declining Company and Poor Management

Pros

The CEO is the only positive thing I can think of

Cons

* In my opinion they're about 10 years behind the rest of the industry in terms of technology and standards with no motivation to fix this problem or even acknowledge it * The company, for some reason, decided to build what is essentially their own version of Entity Framework without much documentation and is unavoidable for any dev work * They also built a mostly undocumented design studio used for most development * Unrealistic deadlines because they've never done the work themselves * No real push for unit testing or even really know what it is. People often build flaky integration tests that pull data from a database and assumes it hasn't changed. Frequently multiple tests will change the same data and cause test failures that never get fixed. * My entire department was told that 45 hours was the minimum for a salaried employee in Florida. * Average expected hours was generally 50 hours, but it's entirely dependent on the team that you're on. * I was also told I'd be passed over for advancement if I "only" put in 40 hours a week regardless of the work that I did. * Also, there is no compensation for overtime at all (you get paid nothing). They expect you to work for free and get upset if you don't. I would have no problem with the two statements I made above if they compensated employees for their time. Salary is not an excuse to take advantage of employees. * People are assigned work on weekends without checking availability. They just assumed you'd cancel plans to do the work I guess. * Recurring after hours meetings every day for months. When I complained because I had something scheduled on Tuesdays after work, they laughed it off and made jokes about it during the next meeting. I did not appreciate being made fun of for asking to leave on time once a week. * When I complained about working overtime every week I was met with a rant about my generation instead of anything constructive. * If you have not worked here for more than 5 years your opinion doesn't appear to be taken seriously. * Seemed to be actively against training employees on new technologies. * More meetings than I've ever heard of. If you ask a yes or no question you'll be asked to schedule a meeting to discuss. On average I probably spent 15-20 hours a week in a conference room. * People appear to only care about posturing. About 75% of the meetings were just a demo to the same person in upper management even though we had a demo with that person the day before and nothing changed. * All demos were described as "I created..." instead of "we" by management * Salary was below average, 401k match may or may not happen depending on their quarterly profit goals, PTO is also below average at 2 weeks. Didn't stay long enough to know about bonuses but read the other reviews. If you value work life balance and learning this probably isn't the right place for you.
