All dependant on your manager and store. Work is usually slow and you’ll struggle to keep yourself occupied for a while shift at a smaller store. Management is typical from a big corporation. Managers are referred to as ‘Store CEO’s’ which usually only serves to inflate their self importance.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at BWS Stores part-time

    Pros

-5% Discount -After 2 years of working study flexiblity was possible -Uniform(Jeans and whatever promo shirt I'm feeling) -1-2 times a year get about $100 of single beer and rtds to try -

    Cons

-bad base contract and slow to increase while trying to study -poor wage -expected to do managers jobs including your own rostering, pay, ordering, promotional planning and employee training -constantly carrot and stringed with promises of promotion -constantly having to double check being paid at right award rate -horrible enterprise agreement that progressively gets worse as they ignore any union not the SDA who agrees to Woolworths terms immediately -understaffed and under budgeting while making record budget and sale goals -no security even when asking the duty manager after multiple incidents in the same location multiple times a week -get used to theft and the racist conversations that ensue -threatened constantly by customers with no company support - racist internal culture towards aboriginal customers with no thought to indigenous employees besides in a total of 4 years they present the store I worked at with a poorly painted piece of wood because I'm at the store. - Was internally pressured during WorkCover incident to try and make me feel guilty by managers for not being physically able to work full duties. Internally known managers a given a bonus based off the WorkCover budget used by store. After 1st year of claim with 2 years remaining I've been expected to do duties that go against my return to work plan with complaints falling on deaf ears
