Pros

USED TO BE proud to work here. Trying to fill the 20 word minimum for Pros, but struggling to do so.

Cons

The CEO, in the post for 4-5 years, has been and continues to drive this once beloved and well respected company straight in to the ground. Professed to "walk the talk", never happened. Professed to adopt the principals of "The Speed of Trust" and "Talk Straight" and "Transparency" - never happened, never happened, never happened. The list goes on. All of my colleagues are openly discussing the incompetencies of the CEO and CFO. The recent choice of appointing the Employment Law Attorney as CHRO, against the advice and open discussion of almost all of the management team members, is the straw that pushed most to ramp up their search outside of Bankers.

Pros

Since there's so much turnover, it's fairly easy to get hired here. You won't get a lot of sophisticated "tell me about a time when you..." type questions either. All you have to do basically is impress the hiring manager and their boss.

Cons

Oh, where do I start? First, there is the constant reshuffling of the executive level. Then, there is the old-school way of doing business the way the founder liked everything. Then, there are all the witless family members of the founder who have cushy jobs that they are totally unqualified for.

Run Away As Fast As You Can!!!

Pros

There are a few good people here who try to do the right thing and have work ethic. I'm struggling here to come up with many or any pros. If you are good at "brown-nosing", you will succeed here even if you don't have a clue what you're actually doing.

Cons

Where do I begin. There are constant changes in the Executive Leadership Team, which makes it difficult to determine what the company goals and objectives are. In the past few years, there have been 5 or 6 CFO's, 3 or 4 Presidents (the most recent one not even having a college degree), 3 or 4 CHRO's, no CIO, no COO, no Chief Actuary, no VP of Business Intelligence, no VP of Personal Lines Product Management, and the CEO is a radiologist who has no experience in insurance whatsoever. Most people just walk around and talk all day, and they are praised for doing so. I guess this is what they mean by "collaboration". Mediocrity or "less than meets" expectations is actually rewarded here. The company has engaged in some practices that are completely "unethical". Back in the mid-90's, they had a private investigator follow the commissioner of insurance and wiretap his phone. Through this process, they discovered the commissioner was gay (and not openly gay), and tried to use this as blackmail against him. It resulted in the company paying out restitution to the state of Florida of $1M, and a $2.55M settlement to the commissioner for invasion of his privacy. You can Google it there are articles all over the internet explaining it. This ship is sinking fast!
