Pros

I gave it one star because it wouldn't allow me to submit a review otherwise. Deserves no stars. This place should be audited. Some of the older financial advisors are inappropriate and unprofessional. Great to work here if you have zero aspirations and are a bored housewife in need of some extra cash.

Cons

Avoid this place at all costs. Unprofessional. No structure. Horrible pay. Crap benefits. Crap management. No support or training. Unprofessional and inappropriate.

Pros

A lot of young professionals between 25-30 which led to a lot of fun extracurricular activities- A lot of resources for Financial Advisors to take advantage of to help run their businesses.

Cons

....resources mean nothing if they are not managed by the right individuals- meaning transparent, honest, and professional individuals- Barnum Financial lacks this. Management does not care about their employees or advisors; people who control payroll, bonuses, promotions, and advisor compensation pay themselves first, and everyone else what is left. Management is not always honest to staff/advisors about important business changes that directly affect employees. Advisor compensation for insurance and retirement products is well below other companies in the Financial Services industry. Staff/Infrastructure compensation is horrible- there is not a lot of vertical growth potential for infrastructure- most 'growth' comes from a horizontal change to a new role/department.

Pros

BFG has been ranked nationally as the top office of MetLife for a reason. Having worked at several different investment / insurance firms, I have never seen such a dedication to providing with advisors with the type of resource and support as I have here. The leadership team actually is invested and has strategies to help build the business of every advisor, whether you are right off the college campus or a 20 year veteran. But just as important is the culture. Simply put, everyone here has an intense competitive desire to be the best there is. Mediocrity isn't accepted, and excuses don't go very far. Despite being a 500 person firm, there is still a family feel, and every person here pushes each other to their potential.

Cons

This is an extremely challenging career. For those that were expecting immediate success without paying dues, there probably would be a high level of frustration. This is a career where you are compensated by the client base you build - and you start with zero clients. Luckily, there is a road map in place to work your way to a successful career where you have the ability to help others in a very real way.
