Pros

Agree with the majority of the other reviews on this website, other than the location there are not many pros to mention. High Staff turnover means that you get to meet a lot of new colleagues.

Cons

It may be different for academics, but in professional services, staff morale is very low. With the current emphasis on "Student Experience", we are being treated like second class citizens and do not feel appreciated because we don't directly interact with students. A very clichy organisation - lots of people have great ideas to help improve and take the University forward but if you are not part of the cliche, your ideas will not be heard. As others have said on here, change is badly managed. It is imposed rather than discussed or consulted upon. Also pay increases for Executives, along with promotions for cliche members has only made the situation worse.

Pros

Creative, talented staff and students on a beautiful campus Amazing possibilities to develop meaningful transdiciplinary collaborations, engage with business and culture; WBL, other.

Cons

Ethos is not holistic - different schools have different ethos. Managers’ actions in places (not all) have been pedagocically damaging - a concern in today’s climate of client led Education - these actions reflect poor understanding of Specialist subjects they manage, poor people management - or the point of dangerous management where the impact could destroy a person. Proper training is required and to be invested in NOT just a tick box online “bias” training - good as a part of wider training. These actions also reflect a distinct poverty of leadership/ability to lead a cohesive and coherent valued team.
