Pros

extraordinary effort the staff go to in order to sustain a sense of morale despite the obstacles placed in their way

Cons

CEO remains in a permanent state of cognitive dissonance. As other reviews have alluded, (i.e. the reviews he hasn’t managed to get taken down), hard work, integrity and transparency are rewarded with erratic and petulant behaviour. The CEO has the unique ability to avoid facing up to the reality of situations and making difficult decisions, leaving the wider disjointed teams to piece together messaging only to be berated for failing to read his mind and for highlighting the truth. This owner-managed company is proud of its diversity, which extends to many shades of Caucasian, having failed to recruit and retain a single person of colour. The company demonstrates diversity by placing women in largely administrative roles where they can be intimated and reduced to tears on a regularly basis. One redeeming quality for this CEO is, following one of his outburst he chooses to ignore feedback and helpfully proceeds to tell the recipient how they should have felt about his behaviour. This ill-informed and ill-equipped CEO blinded to his own failures by a narcissism that borders on the sociopathic, is the only one extremely confident in his own righteousness.

Dear ex-employee, Our CEO wanted to reply to your query himself, please find his thoughts below: Despite you only working for us for a few months, your mistakes cost the business over £500,000. Parting ways with an underperforming member of the executive team is clearly something that I did not perform well. For that I am truly sorry, and I should have done better. I will take more guidance if ever this happens again. Regarding the rest of your comments including those on race and diversity, they are pure fabrication, mostly aimed at attacking me personally rather than the business. I could quote stats and numbers, but the reality is that our women are often the highest paid in their roles (it varies as we promote). Also, we do not judge on anything other than ability and have a diverse team. If anyone reading this is concerned please talk to us and give us the chance to show you the real Rovco. Despite what was a very difficult departure for both of us, I do wish you luck in your future endeavors and I'm genuinely sorry that we had a hard time working with each other. I wish you every success, Brian

Pros

Some smart hardworking people who are friendly and willing to help each other out for the most part. However most of the best ones don't stick around too long. Interesting tech with a good mission to make offshore energy greener. Operational side of business making big improvements with more structure and planning and leadership. Face paced work lots going on not boring Reasonable benefits (flexible and remote working, healthcare, pension), development and training provided for some.

Cons

Tech side (Vaarst) lacks direction and experience at senior level of developing tech products and bringing them to market. Not enough market research and too much focus on marketing and appearances than building decent and sustainable products. If you dare to show initiative or voice an opinion that is not agreed with by the top then you will be berated, sometimes publicly. Senior management appear powerless to make decisions or even stand up for their teams-there is a lack of trust from the top. Cronyism is common, but this is not unusual for this industry.

Pros

Committed, nice team, who always try to there best. Interesting industry.

Cons

Confused CEO, who is unpleasant and critical to staff. He says is inexperienced but doesn’t try to improve. Changes his mind almost daily, creates caos. Lots of ideas but not able to trust us, his team. Concerned with how look as a company to the investors, so lots of plastering on cracks . Tech products def need sorting out before ready. Long way to go to make good. A shame.
