      Pros

      Great to work with kids who appreciate you. Perfect place with many opportunities to give back to your community.

      Cons

      Pay is subpar, raises are few and far between. Promotion opportunities are rare. Nepotism allows uncertified people to hold positions of authority.

      The students are why I showed up, not the adults. If you do great things that help move the bar for education, everyone is now an enemy. Doing well and being a great teacher puts a target on your back. Or your tires.

      All of it but the students.
