Pros

Does a good job of keeping the atmosphere light. Most of the employees are really cool and down to earth to work with. Lots of different personalities so it shouldn't be hard to find a group of people to associate with.

Cons

If you want to work for a company that is constantly changing, then this is the place for you. They'll argue that constant pivoting is a good thing, but I disagree. Being able to focus on one project knowing that there's a good chance it'll change is a big struggle. I'm lucky to have a good manager, but from what I've heard, most managers are terrible. Make sure your interview questions let you know how good your manager is because there's a good chance he/she won't be good.

Pros

My first thoughts of BetterCloud was that it was amazing. The interview went really well and the office atmosphere was amazing. It was great to see people my age working really hard to accomplish something they all seemed to believe in. That experience plus the recruiting video really sold me on the company and the culture.

Cons

I learned after a few months that a lot of people were unhappy here. Didn't feel that in the interview or see that in the recruiting video (was also told that a lot of that was staged). There are a lot of issues brewing internally which I guess is to be expected when you have so many employees, but I guess it just really surprised me considering how well everything went in the beginning. With a lot of people looking to leave because of the culture and work environment, I think my time here is done as well.

A wild ride, in all the wrong ways.

Pros

-The only person at the company that truly seems to care about the employees is the CEO. But, unfortunately, the more BetterCloud grows, the more out of touch he is with what his employees really want/need. -Total addressable market for the platform is uncapped.

Cons

-They say they value work/life balance but only reward the people that are working 60+ hours a week. -Very cliquey. There is a clear preference for the employees living in New York (even in a remote world). -No merit cycle process or compensation philosophy. It’s not uncommon for (deserving) employees to go years without a raise. -There’s been some questionable decisions made by HR, including sweeping some inappropriate manager/employee relationships under the rug and instructing concerned employees not to speak of the inappropriate incidents. -The review that mentions someone being let go while on maternity leave? That’s true. They also laid off 50+ and not long after, announced a large round of funding. This left a lot of current and former employees feeling uncomfortable and misled. -Lack of transparency around roadmap and why certain decisions were being made. -Poor planning/goal setting which led to goals consistently being missed. -Zero regulation around political or hard hitting social issues — if you don’t agree with the company’s stance, there was no room or space to voice that and have healthy conflict discussions. -Despite training, there is not buy-in from leadership (especially in sales) around Diversity & Inclusion.
