Pros

Employees have some control over restaurant music.

Cons

- Food is cheap and customers tip poorly (15 %) regardless of quality of service. - The owner is a narcissist who verbally abuses employees and only offers positive feedback if you are mentioned in a review. - Managers (and owner) have remote access to restaurant cameras and will spy on you as you work. Owner once called the restaurant demanding that we not “stand around” when there were only 5 tables over a 3 hour period. -Leads and managers are overworked (as lead server, I bartended, hosted, took tables, answered the phone, was responsible for customer complaints, and more) -Tips are shared, with bussers and runners getting an equal share as the servers who actually earned the tips through customer service. To summarize, a great place to be a busser, a horrible place to be a server. Any experienced server should avoid Beyond Sushi, you will make more money and be more appreciated for your hard work elsewhere.

Pros

staff is very friendly, can make a lot of friends except for the insane turnover rate

the management is absolutely ridiculous, they treat you like you're children with complete disrespect, they are constantly shunting people around to different locations. when youre a lead server the entire restaurant is your responsibility but they don't give you the resources to actually do your job and things are always breaking and going wrong. The managers are complete micromanagers while simultaneously being completely unhelpful and absent when you need them. the owner has no respect for servers at all, gives you a 15 dollar limit for staff meals despite everything on the menu being over $15, makes you pay the different if you eat something for lunch that goes over that limit which is usuallty the case. Managers and owner penny pinch about the weirdest things and make crazy in the moment decisions that become strict rules for 2 weeks then never brought up again. They have rules about the most random things that the managers can't even explain but you have to abide by them anyway. They make servers split tips evenly with the bussers who don't even do half the work. Managers refuse to listen to complaints by the staff because they have to do what the owner says. Also you dont make any money to make all that worth it.

Pros

You’ll bond with the other servers over mutual hatred for management

Cons

Horrible managers. Just awful. Will treat you like it’s your first time in a restaurant even if you have 5+ years experience. Will constantly micromanage you. Ignore you “preferred schedule.” If you ask for 30 hours/week you’ll get 50. And if you complain you’ll get 20 hours/week.
