Mission covering mess

Pros

-Mission helping children with software -Mix of tech and non-tech people (no tech bro culture). Team is invested in mission -Inclusive culture for non-binary and LGBTQIA+ -Good benefits for size of company like home office cost reimbursement and 401k match -Remote friendly

Cons

Debated submitting, but decided it’s good to have a real review on Glassdoor along with the many fake ones here. The mission of “helping children” is used to cover up many problems at Binti. -Unstable/revolving door - people constantly disappear and “not work out” for “insert whatever reason here” including top level management -Diversity - Company says it prioritizes BIPOC and building diversity, but the only black leader they ever hired left in a few months… they are happy to have a “diverse” team as long as those people are the bottom rung -CEO is very controlling and tells people exactly how to do their jobs in very condescending way. Company value of “embrace the best idea” should be replaced by “embrace the CEO’s idea” -CEO decided to work with a partner that does not uphold our mission - the mission is the reason I’m here, and we are putting $ over mission -Company direction always changing, and there is no board or accountability for CEO/management -Work life balance - working 12 hour days and weekends while putting on a happy face and pretending you’re only working 40 hours

Managers make toxic, disorganized environment

Pros

- good food - friendly coworkers - great mission - decent pay - progressive values (can wear anything you want, LGBT friendly)

Cons

- favoritism very apparent - managers seem to not follow company values of empathy - employee turnover leads to environment that feels like anyone can disappear quietly without warning - managers seem to have trouble planning deadlines, leading to very rushed projects and assignments. - workers typically have to lie about meeting deadlines - I hear some workers work over 12+ hour days and six days a week - office seems to average one-third capacity - CEO seems to be rarely in office and very hard to access even though company is very small - company culture seems to favor positivity and passive aggressiveness to the point criticisms cannot be made anymore - workers often feel unrecognized for the labor they do - workers say their managers purposefully discourage communication between each other

Pros

A lot of people they recruit and hire are warm and friendly.

Cons

The company promotes a highly empathetic environment, but in reality it is extremely cut throat. Multiple people have said they have been disrespected at various levels of the company.
