Pros

CEO and upper management that care for their employees. A family-friendly environment that allows you to be home for the holidays (if your work schedule allows). Generous benefits, plenty of company gatherings, and a culture that tries to encourage togetherness. I wake up and enjoy going to work, I have made friends that feel like family, I love my company and what we stand for.

Cons

It can be difficult to move around within the company. The upper management encourages it however the different areas don't necessarily recruit from within and sometimes prefer to take their efforts externally first.

We all work for the same company with same goals, and yet it felt like we were fighting against each other. BioMarin doesn't do a good job explaining the process of how each department works and how each department. affects the other department. I just knew my own job duties and the data I received from other departments, but it was difficult to tell other departments the correct info I needed from them because they kept fighting me. I tried explaining to them, but it was like yelling into the void. They don't recognize good workers, and they keep the flailing employees.

Cons

The most dysfunctional company I have ever experienced. Leadership is inexperienced and constantly changes direction, no vision for the future, teams work in silos, everything is “biomarin-ized” aka the company thinks they are special and require exceptions to standard best practices and heavy configuration of systems, speaking of systems nothing is setup right therefore nothing works/is easy and IT support is a joke. The company has good intentions at times but everything feels cheap and thrown together last minute.
