Pros
Supportive coworkers, diverse caseload, great place to gain experience, PTO isn't bad.
Cons
Supervisors are basically negligent helicopter parents, micromanaging you but rarely saying anything helpful, just critiquing and talking to you as if you are stupid. Supervisors are set up for failure by having 20+ supervisees each and seemingly being expected to work 24/7. My supervisor's anxiety and tendency to escalate situations has often made me more worried about telling her about a client's situation due to how she will react than I am about the client's safety, which is horrible. Recently the decision was made to decrease gaps between sessions from 15 minutes to 5. When clinicians have expressed concern they have been ignored, gaslit, and outright lied to about the reasoning behind it and steps that will be taken to provide support. At the end of the day, it is all about money and clinician mental health is what suffers. Clients also suffer, many having had multiple therapists in a short time frame due to the excessive amount of turnover. There are better places out there, just don't do it to yourself.
