      Nothing Functions as It Should

      Pros

      Not much, to be honest. My coworkers were alright, and I received a couple of benefits, but the few pros were nowhere near enough to outweigh the constant dysfunction and chaos throughout the company.

      Cons

      - Blockhouse Capital is a complete mess of a company with no real structure at all. - Communication is consistently poor, expectations are unclear, and roles are left poorly defined, creating constant confusion. - Leadership is ineffective and appears lost in decision making, repeatedly failing to learn from obvious mistakes. - Accountability is avoided at every turn, with blame shifted to everyone except those responsible for the failures.

      Pros

      Some of the people are brilliant and excellent to work with.

      Cons

      Such a tiring job. The culture is very top-down, command and control. The workload is heavy, and long hours are expected. Upper management does not seem to have a clear plan, which creates more problems. The founders push for results but do not provide much support. It is hard to balance work and personal time. Issues get talked about but do not really get fixed. Pay also feels uncertain, which makes it hard to stay. All in all, the environment is purgatoric.

      Fast pace, high pressure start up. Enjoyed my term.

      Pros

      Coming from a big corp - this was quite an adjustment for me. Lots of moving parts - wearing lots of hats outside my JD - what was a dev role turned into a fullstack :P But I was really enjoyable. The owners and coworkers are on a really solid mission. I was only here for a short contract, but really can see this team moving in the right direction.

      Cons

      Not for the everyday worker...... high intensity , hours can be long, super chaotic if you are not use to a start up. But , I will say the chaos is at least very will communicated and address early - so even if there is an elephant in the room, everyone at least knows about it - and do strategize how to move forward.
