Pros

There is a lot of intelligent engineers. You can learn from others if you are just starting your career. Free lunch few times a week Closer to Caltrain

Cons

One of the company values is "no drama". But, the CEO is full of drama. Other company values just exist on paper. It used to be a vibrant place, but it went south after co-founder CTO left. When a co-founder leaves to found another company, that tells a lot about future of this company. No career growth.

Pros

Remote-first Reasonable benefits Interesting customers

Cons

Honestly, I never should have accepted a job at Bloomreach - red flags were there from day one. Key example - when my recruiter made the initial offer I countered asking for $10k more. He said that there was a potential for the offer to be rescinded for asking for more and wanted to make sure I was comfortable with that risk. I said “yep” and what do you know, they didn’t rescind the offer. If you’re interviewing here — don’t fall for this. Culture here is in free-fall. It’s great that they are remote first but many managers seem to have no idea how to actually build a cohesive, remote team and model positive communication and collaboration skills. Not family friendly. My manager has told me that they consider it important to feel passionate about my work because I will spend more time here than with my children. Left a very bad taste in my mouth. Problems originating at the top of the chain of command will roll downhill - be prepared to take responsibility for anything and everything in a spirit of “radical ownership”. Management is inconsistent and often contradictory - the one consistent is that there are plenty of line managers, but few who actually know how to LEAD. Annual raises are paltry, even for high performers. Employees are encouraged to provide constructive (negative) feedback on Lattice as a shortcut for not creating a company culture where coworkers can freely communicate issues directly with one another - instead we are encouraged to wait for a review cycle to give feedback that could have been shared in real time. It’s the worst possible combination of a start up and established company. It has all the chaos, extreme workloads, ambiguity and unstructured, poorly defined processes combined with the inefficiencies, silos, and tribal knowledge of an established monolith. Management loves to “lean in” to the messiness of how things are structured but when they are faced with the consequences of the chaos that they have helped shape, they will blame their team rather than take any ownership.

Trending Poorly

Pros

Bloomreach has a strong market presence for our Search solution. Customers seem happy (but that has been trending poorly over the last 12 months). Having said that, I would not recommend a friend come work here, and I am not optimistic about the future of the company.

Cons

No vision for the the product roadmap and low investment in product development. Instability in leadership. The CFO and CPO were both let go this week. Seems like a miss the CMO was not let go. Marketing has performed very poorly and and CMO is completely out of her element in this role. No "North Star" for the company. Priorities shift by the quarter. The focus is solely on getting our numbers up to go public, but no one seems to know how to get those numbers up. We are just told we need to get them up. Very political culture. Good people that are performing get let go, under performers that are properly aligned with those in power are protected and promoted.

Thank you for sharing your feelings and impressions in the review. On the factual points: Customer NPS in 2022 has had an upward trend across products. Research & Development investments are in line with market benchmarks for companies of similar type & size (as a % of ARR). Marketing has exceeded pipeline targets in Q1, Q2 2022 and are consistently increasing brand awareness across our core markets, analysts and media. The 2022 company strategy was clearly outlined at the January 11, 2022 All Hands. There's a clear quarterly performance management system in place through Lattice. Employee NPS has been stable at an all-time high, significantly improving year over year. However, it is completely valid to say you are not optimistic about your team's future and you wouldn't recommend a friend to work at Bloomreach. This might be due to a variety of factors, possibly including insufficient guidance on how to achieve your targets. We'd love to be there for you and to work together on improving your employee experience at Bloomreach. Please feel free to reach out to the Chief People Officer directly or to any of our People Business Partners, so that we can better understand what you're going through and start improving your experience at Bloomreach. Thank you very much for your candidness again and we hope to be able to make a difference for you soon. Tomas, Head of Recruitment
