Pros

I had to write at least 5 words for this section and None didn't hit that criteria

Cons

Step into a time machine and travel back to the gloriously toxic world of 1980s recruitment. To survive? Just nod, smile, and be a good little yes-man. Daring to show interest or offer an opinion that doesn’t align with the directors? Congratulations you’re wrong by default. The interview process? Imagine something straight out of "How to Make Someone More Uncomfortable Than a Bus Ride with Jimmy Savile". Yep, that bad. The culture? Toxicity encouraged. Breaks? Don’t be ridiculous. Just keep dialling. Every. Second. Of. Every. Day. Got a fresh idea? Don’t bother, we’ve already got it all figured out, courtesy of this dusty 1980s business success manual. And then there’s the owner. Strap in for the daily emotional roulette. One minute you're golden, the next you’re in the firing line. It’s all part of the “fun,” apparently. Clock off at your scheduled time? Hah. If you’re not sacrificing your evenings and your soul, are you even committed to making them richer?

Pros

If they remembered you get a bottle of bubbly for your 1 year anniversary or your first placement. The ones that work themselves to the bone get a crate of beer or a bottle of wine.

Cons

Firstly the candidate experience is completely awful, they make it seem as though you are interviewing for a spectacular company as you go through 4-5 interviews just for a recruiter role. If you arrive on time or leave on time (your contracted hours) others who have been there the longest and brainwashed the most would make comments like ‘half day is it’ or ‘part-timer’. If this becomes a habit they actually speak to you about the lack of efforts you are putting in. Quarterly reviews and probation reviews are awful. You will be picked up on all the negatives things you’ve done and then they will leave about 2 minutes at the end of the meeting to run through anything good you’ve done. This happens even if you are top of the leaderboard and pass probation. You have to ask to go to get an ice cream from the ice cream van. There is absolutely 0 trust. If they notice inactivity for 5 mins or more they ask you what you were doing within those times. God forbid you need to go to the toilet or take a break from the phones and screens. You are not allowed to take gifts from partners. They literally strip all thrills from the job. You cannot wear anything less than office attire. One ‘benefit’ listed in the original job description was early finishes on a Friday. You’d wait, anticipating every week if this would be the case and if the top dogs had already left for the day you’d already know your outcome… big fat no. All in all the founders drive ridiculous old fashioned working conditions and the long standing employees don’t know how much better they could be treated because they’ve only ever worked there and have been brain washed to think that that’s how staff should be treated. Also pay is abismal. The turnover is ridiculously high. Some people spend a couple of days and realise they need to leave and then the company says ‘oh they couldn’t handle recruitment’ - complete utter BS. Would highly recommend to run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.

Pros

- Full ownership of work - take a project from start to finish

Cons

- Delays to agreed promotional pay agreements - Do not take non-formal complaints against staff seriously - No paid overtime - asked to come in earlier everyday but not to leave earlier - no pay for this extra time - Spoken down to on a regular basis - Virtually no training what so ever - put down when work not up to scratch - No flexibility with working hours - Promotions are difficult to obtain and feel unreachable - Pay does not match job requirements - No effort put in to make you feel like part of the team
