Pros

This fully remote company offers decent healthcare benefits. The founder is passionate, and the technology is impressive.

Cons

The company suffers from poor management and leadership throughout. Planning is haphazard, and everything is rushed. Fire drills are a daily occurrence. Leadership changes direction arbitrarily, provides conflicting information, and ownership becomes unclear. Employees are discouraged from sharing their expertise. Workloads are consistently overwhelming, new projects pile up, and each project is deemed more important than the last. Errors and accidents are unacceptable, and employees are expected to perform flawlessly the first time and within unrealistic deadlines. There’s no professional development, and Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) are handed out indiscriminately (if you’re on one, you’re likely to be fired). Across the company, employees are belittled, scapegoated, and constantly blamed for leadership’s shortcomings and insecurities. Leadership heavily relies on ChatGPT for most tasks, and there’s no logical or rational argument against it, even when it’s blatantly incorrect or counterproductive to the company’s goals.

Poor Leadership

Pros

Great pay, health insurance, remote. Opportunities to travel, change roles.

Cons

Heavily influenced by investors. The ambition is hyper growth, not sustainability. The president they hired is proof of that, has no hardware experience. But there are some very smart and talented people.

Pros

Good product that does need work but solving a big problem. Leadership comes from a distinguished background, but unfortunately do not have domain expertise.

Cons

Lack of domain expertise in the industry caused the company to cut 20% of staff. In addition, long-term success is dubious at current trajectory.
