Pros

If you want to make a career out of public accounting then this firm will give you the opportunity to network and make some connections (since it is a large regional firm). However, if you want to make a career out of public accounting then I strongly urge you to seek professional counseling.

Cons

Where do I even begin....working here was like serving a long-term prison sentence. The pay is below average, finding out my bonus (if any) each year was the equivalent feeling of getting kicked in the groin. Throughout the year, you probably won't get to see the light of day and your social/family life will quickly disappear. During busy times most of us would work 80+ hours a week. That is just the beginning, most of the work is mind-numbing and soul-crushing; Also, if you want to advance then you will have to cheat the system and lie about your chargeable hours. Those who are honest about their chargeable hours will fall short of their peers and will be labeled 'slackers' and 'under-performers' Last but not least, there is more gossip and cliques in this place than when I went to high school. Everyone is constantly talking behind each others backs, whoever you may consider a friend is probably talking trash about you.

Pros

The location is good and the company provides free parking in a secure garage. They have a good selection of snacks and coffee. Yes, those were the only "pro's"

Cons

Management and communication is very weak and it seems they are incapable of making decisions. The ones the do make leave a person wondering exactly what they could be thinking. Pay is very low and benefits aren't too great either, the insurance premiums are high and coverage is awful. Vacation time is stingy. People don't tend to stick around long, its like a revolving door policy there - they use you up then spit you out making room for the next person willing to work for peanuts. The work environment isn't very pleasant either, old cubicles, kitchens that never seem to get cleaned and the people are generally a bunch of snobs that one would be better off going a lifetime without meeting. The review process is a joke and the raises - what raises?
