The pros of working at Bode did not go beyond the friendships I made. Upper management and owners are condescending and out of touch. They will do next to nothing to help you progress in your career and there is almost zero potential for growth (and goodluck getting a raise).
The job pays well below industry standard for "Luxury Retail" (it's not luxury), and there is no commission offered.
The facilities are an absolute mess. The number of dead rats that all employees had the privilege of sweeping up before, during, and after shifts is impossible to count. Multiply that by five for the dead roaches. If you decide to work at the store on Hester St, a part of your morning routine will be sweeping up the rat poop and animal carcasses left over from the night before. There is mold growing in the basements and stores, there is an odd odor coming from the vents, and the walls of the stockroom crumble. Multiple people were electrocuted in the stockrooms, and nothing was done to address the hazards.
I seriously could write pages about how frustrating it was to work at Bode for the last 6 months. ELEVEN people have quit in that amount of time, as management took a complete downturn. The store is no longer an enjoyable place to work. It is full of disorder, and bad energy. I seriously dreaded going into work everyday for my last few months.
