Pros

Bravo has a vibrant culture among their developers that encourages interaction between developers across their many contracts. They promote personal growth and help track and facilitate the growth of each employee, including sending devs to training and conferences. They take an interest in getting to know each employee personally, even down to keeping favorite drinks and snacks for each developer at their headquarters. Unlike many contract shops, Bravo tries to keep their developers connected; for instance they plan regular informative luncheons every other Thursday (Bravo Thursday) at their offices so their developers can meet, chat, and talk about software and development. They sponsor many community outreach programs including coding caps for youth. They value work-life balance and foster a family friendly environment. They recognize and celebrate talent among their employees. They offer some extra annual holidays, too (like day after Thanksgiving). They compensate their employees at a very fair rate; if you pass their hiring process, expect an offer to match your talent. The company is on an upward trend and continues to grow, strengthening relationships with many of the large companies in West Michigan. I only left because I found a place I wanted to stick around because I loved the product. If I ever worked for another contractor in West Michigan again, it would most likely be Bravo.

Cons

Participation in luncheons are not required, but encouraged, and they do fall outside your normal 40 hour work week. Their time tracking system can feel a bit archaic at times (as of now, devs submit a time sheet in google docs twice a month). Benefits are good but a little on the pricey side.

Pros

- employees happiness is a focus - generous with certification and training opportunities including conferences - generous with compensation and PTO - hosts local events to improve the community - volunteers to help people such as providing IT learning to youth

Cons

- being involved in extracurricular activities such as blogging or volunteering means dedicating time outside of regular working hours - trying to balance Bravo LT tasks and client needs can prove challenging at times - working with clients means that client working conditions can impact you
