Pros

erm....there's some lovely staff working really hard.

Cons

This organisation has built a reputation for poor credit, poor leadership, loads of unpaid bills, financial dishonesty and a complete disregard for its staff, parents and big name partners. They push the word 'team' but in reality only look after the people on the board and some of those are only there by staying with the company long enough. They now exist in well paid jobs knowing full well they would not be paid the same anywhere else, hanging on for as long as they can, thinking people cannot see them for what they are. Employees have had their pension contributions taken, including employee contributions and they only acted when the 'team' raised it as an issue. Wages are paid late, creating stress and uncertainty each month -will or wont you be paid and what day will it be? Raise an issue and you will be out of the door, keep your head down and you'll be ok - if HR like you that is, The so-called "People Team" (HR) is nothing short of rude, and completely disconnected. Think old school HR. They lack empathy, understanding and ironically, people skills. Raise an issue, your card will be well and truly marked. Be assured however, HR will protect the management board at all costs. No employee assistance programme no perks - they can't afford to look after their staff. Great things really don't start here - unless you are a favourite on the board of course. The credit rating of this company is abysmal for a reason. Both large and small businesses are left unpaid, parents who request refunds are ignored, college rents and providers for past programmes remain unpaid even years later. Colleges run with unpaid bills and low student numbers until another crazy idea is thought of and another college opens somewhere in the world! Lots of overseas trips for the board, Lots of crazy, frivolous ideas, lots of unpaid bills, lots of false social media posts, lots of unhappy staff with crazy, unachievable sales targets. The turnover rate speaks for itself: if they don't like you, you'll be gone, speak out and you'll be gone and anyone with standards gets out after their soul has died believing they can be the one to make a difference.

A Masterclass in Incompetence – Avoid at All Costs

Pros

Nothing! I guess great for insomniacs... Who needs sleep when you're constantly worried about whether you’ll get paid?

Cons

If you enjoy financial instability, a complete lack of professionalism and the thrill of wondering whether you’ll actually be paid for your work, then BSC Education is the place for you! Let’s start with the elephant in the room, fraud! The company has consistently failed to pay pension contributions for months on end. And it turns out, this isn't just a rare slip-up, it’s been happening for over 6 months. Even our pension provider had to report BSC to the Pensions Regulator because, well, stealing employees’ retirement savings isn’t exactly legal. Where did all this money go? Your guess is as good as mine, but if I had to take a guess, BSC seems to be operating something suspiciously close to a Ponzi scheme. And it’s not just employees getting screwed over. Contractors, small business owners who clean the buildings, wash the windows, and provide other essential services, routinely go unpaid. The rent for our college buildings is constantly being chased because BSC fails to pay on time. And as for the students? Many never receive the refunds they’re owed. Don't believe me? Just take a peek at the Google reviews across any of their colleges. It’s a graveyard of complaints from families desperately trying (and failing) to get their money back. I worked directly with customers and let me tell you, nothing is more soul destroying than having to apologise on behalf of a company that has literally stolen their money. And if you thought that was bad, let’s talk about employee pay. A few months back, they simply… didn’t bother. No warning, no explanation, just a delightful surprise when payday rolled around and our accounts were empty. They eventually paid us a week late, because nothing screams “great employer” like leaving your staff unable to pay their rent. Now, let’s take a moment to appreciate the comedic brilliance that is BSC’s management and HR department, oh sorry, I mean the “People’s Team” (which is painfully ironic, considering they’re probably the biggest source of stress for employees). This bunch couldn’t organise a paperclip, let alone a company. Employee wellbeing? Never heard of it. Support? Not in their vocabulary. The only thing they’re consistent at is being entirely useless. And for those of you who enjoy a bit of light reading, I strongly encourage you to check out BSC Education Limited on Companies House. It’s like an open book of corporate horror. Want to dive deeper? Have a look at the history of Michael Tunney, the CEO. A serial liquidator of companies, and yet, somehow, still in business. It’s truly inspiring how someone can repeatedly drive companies into the ground and keep a straight face while doing it. If you’re wondering why they always seem to be hiring, here’s your answer: people leave as soon as they can. The work environment is toxic, morale is non-existent and the company’s financial troubles make it an absolute minefield to navigate. Final Thoughts? Just Don’t. I know sometimes we take jobs out of necessity, but I beg you, keep looking. This company will drain your mental health, ruin your financial stability and make you question every career decision you’ve ever made. Working for BSC Education isn’t about building a career; it’s about learning what red flags look like.

Pros

Nothing, it used to be a good and decent company before the Covid, but there is nothing left

Cons

After going into liquidation to dodge their financial obligations—leaving clients, employees, and suppliers unpaid—they shamelessly reopened under a new name as though nothing had happened - even though they keep claiming to have been in business since 1930, using materials and examples from the former company when convenient. This is a clear example of a "phoenix" company, rising from the ashes of their own financial failure while leaving others to bear the costs. Their behavior is not only unethical but also a blatant attempt to manipulate the system. If you care about your reputation in the industry, stay clear. It’s infuriating to see a company that failed so spectacularly to honor its commitments re-enter the market without any accountability. Avoid at all costs!
